I think I read somewher...Thanks for the correction. I think I read somewhere that it was the Watergate scandal that actually inspired the "Independent" moniker. Being a relative newcomer to the Gopher State, I naturally assumed it was Bush I who inspired the name change. In any case, the desire for Minnesota Republicans to distance themselves from the national party seems to be cyclical. And who can blame them?
